In Love with the Lyrids at Eve of Earth Day

April 21, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Every year, the spring sky lights up with the falling stars of the Lyrid Meteor Shower, named for the constellation Lyra and its romantic associations with Orpheus and his beloved Eurydice. Tonight Star Lore Historian Mary Stewart Adams will take us on an engaging and interactive tour of the night sky and its stories, including the highlights of what’s up overhead in the weeks and months ahead.
Mary Stewart Adams in a celebrated and award winning star lore historian who travels extensively teaching a humanities-based approach to understanding the night sky. Mary led the initiative that established the Headlands International Dark Sky Park in Mackinaw City and consults with communities around the state that seek to protect natural darkness by mitigating light pollution and celebrating the stories of the stars. You can hear her each week on Interlochen Public Radio with her segment “The Storyteller’s Night Sky.”
