The Vernal Full Moon ~ First Tuesday Lecture with Mary Stewart Adams at Rudolf Steiner House, Ann Arbor, MI

April 7 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Each year at the Vernal Full Moon, the Earth resumes its central role in the great
cosmic mystery of the season, which Rudolf Steiner referred to as the Mystery of

From one year to the next, the Earth occupies this central role either for a
few days or a few hours, depending on which day during the Holy Week the Full
Moon occurs. This year, 2020, the Vernal Full Moon lands on Tuesday of the Holy
Week, April 7, which makes it coincident with our First Tuesday gathering at Rudolf
Steiner House.

So what happens on the Earth during the time from Vernal Full Moon to Easter

In a two-part presentation (April 7&11, 2020), Star Lore Historian Mary Stewart Adams will lead us in an interactive experience of: this mystery of the Moon’s role in the Holy Week; the backdrop of stars against which it achieves its Full Phase; and the “turn” we are asked to make each year at this time, during the sacred observance of the spiritual new year.

Taking inspiration from Marc Desaules’ lecture on the

together with “The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz,”

Mary Stewart Adams will lead us through an interactive experience of the sacred “turn” that takes place during the Holy Week, when the Sun sets and the Vernal Full Moon rises, as it will the night of our gathering.

At such a moment, the Earth becomes the castle that lies east of the Sun and west of the Moon, and a culmination of our Lenten striving to make ready for the Mystery can

In his essay on the Second Day of the Chymical Wedding, Rudolf Steiner
described such a moment this way: “The second day’s labor brings the soul experiences that decide whether the seeker of the spirit Johan Valentin Andrae is describing will attain the faculties for true spiritual perception or whether his soul will be surrounded by a world of spiritual error. For his capacity of perception these experiences are clothed in the imagination of ‘entering a castle,’ where the world of spiritual experiences administered.”

How will we enter the castle? How can we know such an experience is upon us? And
how will we prepare?
