In the Christian tradition, Monday, March 24th marks the Feast Day the Archangel Gabriel, the annunciator and guardian of souls coming to birth ~ a fitting task at the dawn of Spring. And then, the kind of cosmic coincidence that I particularly like occurs when the planet Mercury, messenger of the gods, comes to a meeting with the Sun the very same day. The messenger of the gods and the annunciator, each bearing missives from the divine, active on the same day ~ it’s worth paying attention to.
What’s also interesting right now, as we make our way into the new season, is that the Moon, Mercury, and Venus are each making a unique gesture right now: the Moon was totally eclipsed; Venus is retrograde; and Mercury is retrograde, these two joining hands and trading their evening dress for morning attire.
Through the insights of spiritual science, these three celestial bodies are understood to be connected to the weaving forces of human destiny, those forces that operate in a human biography to bring us to encounter with the divine, and where we get to make choices. If you’re feeling stirred up lately, it might have something to do with this!
One week from now, the planet Neptune will move into the tropical sign of Aries. Neptune has not been in this region of sky for 165 years, not since 1860, which was not too long after the planet was discovered. Astrologers assign to Neptune a quality of spirituality and mysticism, or confusion and escapism. Neptune was at home in watery Pisces for the last 14 years, but now moves into fiery Aries, where what we were dreaming was possible is now put to the test. The three destiny planets are causing a shakeup, Neptune in Aries says wake up.
Neptune’s move into Aries coming on March 30th is coincident with the 100th anniversary of the death of Rudolf Steiner, on March 30, 1925. Rudolf Steiner was a philosopher and spiritual scientist among many other things, whose life task involved renewing ancient mysteries in a way suited to contemporary culture. With regard to the human biography in relationship to starry worlds, he said Such is the writing of the stars, by our own deeds inscribed into the cosmic spaces.
So when the messengers align on Monday, March 24, and Neptune readies to make a move Sunday, March 30, rather than waiting for what dreams may come, it’s a good time to state your intentions, write yourself a letter, make a ceremonial inscription, with the stars as your witness.
