Upcoming Events with Mary Stewart Adams ~ Summer 2020

The gorgeous image above was taken at Lavender Hill Farm by Libby Henderson the night of my “Giants of the Night Sky” program on July 13, 2020. I will be back at Lavender Hill Farm on August 10, just in time for the Perseid Meteor Shower. Jupiter and Saturn will grace the evening sky just east of the thickest region of Milky Way stars this night, and the Moon will be at waning crescent phase, rising after midnight. Follow this link for tickets and event information, and join me for casting your wishes to the falling stars.

Throughout the Summer, I narrate evening sky cruises with Shepler’s Ferry Service. The cruises are timed to the phenomena (sunset, moonrise, meteor showers). Follow this link to Shepler’s for tickets and information. Cruise dates are July 22&24 for “Giants in the Night Sky” cruise; August 1 for our annual “Cross Quarter Cruise”; August 2 for “Eve of Full Moon”; August 11&12 for “Midnight Meteor Shower Cruises”; and August 30 for the “Wine Moon Cruise.”

On Saturday, August 22, I am pleased to share that I will present an online program for the Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate on the romantic mysteries of “The Lavender Moon.” To register for this online event, follow this link.

Each Monday morning you can catch my weekly snapshot of the story in the stars for the week on “The Storyteller’s Night Sky” at Interlochen Public Radio, and you can follow along wherever  you listen to podcasts.

The night sky has been thrilling this season, with the largest naked-eye planets Jupiter and Saturn coming to their respective oppositions with the Sun and making their way through the stars all night long, while Venus has been brilliant as morning star and Comet NEOWISE has burst into view, adding a superlative element to the cosmic mysteries unfolding overhead. So many stories to tell!

My candle burns at both ends;
   It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends—
   It gives a lovely light!

I look forward to seeing you under starry skies!
